Design 2.0 changed how IXV looks. Design 2.4 changes how it feels to use. Most of the controls you touch every day have been rebuilt. They are easier to hit on a phone, they say what they are doing, and they move with a bit of life.

Ctrl+K. On a computer, press Ctrl+K (Cmd+K on a Mac) anywhere in the app and type where you want to go. You only see the pages you can already open.

Dates and times. Date and time boxes now open a proper calendar and time list instead of the browser's own picker. That covers jobs, the schedule, reports, time off and invoices.

Money and quantities. Price fields format as you type, so $1,250 never turns into $12.50. Quantity fields have proper plus and minus buttons. Phone number fields format the number for you.

Sign-in. Two-factor codes are six boxes that fill as you type or paste. Password fields have a show button, and new passwords show how strong they are while you type.

Fewer accidents. The few things that cannot be undone, like handing over ownership of your company, now take a press and hold instead of a single click.

Uploads and steps. Receipts, expenses and documents take files by drag and drop. Checkout, selling stock and first-time setup show which step you are on.

Calmer screens. Pages sketch their shape while they load instead of showing a spinner, and empty lists tell you what goes there and how to add the first one.

Nothing moved. Every page and workflow is where it was. It just works better.

As we get closer to the official 1.0 release, we felt a design overhaul was due. We wanted things to feel fresher and more modern without being too much, and we think this does exactly what we set out to do.

Paper and ink. Every screen now reads like a document on a desk rather than a web app: a warm sheet carrying brown ink, on a darker ground. One accent colour instead of several. Nothing floats — the drop shadows and the frosted-glass blur are gone, and structure is drawn with clean hairlines instead. It is quieter, and it is easier to read for eight hours.

A proper header. The bar across the top is dark brown with light type, and under your company's name it lists everything your workspace has — Dashboard, Chat, Dispatch, whatever you are set up with. Menus drop out of it in the same dark finish instead of interrupting it with a pale box.

New type. Headings are set in Oswald, a condensed industrial face, over Barlow for everything you read. Both are loaded with the app rather than fetched from elsewhere, so pages come up in the right typeface from the first paint instead of flickering into it.

Rounded, not sharp. We tried square corners. They looked severe on a tool you use all day, so the corners stayed.

Your theme is still yours. The picker in your profile menu still has all three: the new light theme, plus the two dark ones. If you were on a dark theme you have kept it, untouched.

Nothing moved. Every button, page and workflow is exactly where it was — this is the same app wearing better clothes.

The guided demo grew up. If you have been sent a demo of IXV, or you are about to send one, this release is mostly about that.

Demo sessions. A demo can now be set up for a specific business. It gets its own demo ID and pass key, and the demo tenant's sign-in page becomes a join screen — type the ID and key (or open the link, which carries both) and you are in, greeted by name: "Welcome, Acme Plumbing, to the Provider Demo." On our side we can see whether an invite was ever used, close it, or hand out a fresh key.

The Vendor tour is a real tour now. It went from fifteen steps to fifty-odd, the same length as the Provider one. It walks the counter, the back warehouse and the will-call shelf, receives a pallet, scans an item and talks through the sell / hold / move card, opens the phone app for the floor, goes through trade accounts and agreed pricing, orders from contractors, billing, the add-ons, and the admin behind it.

Both tours end properly. A tour used to just stop on its last step. There is an end card now: what was covered, watch it again, look around on your own, or open the other demo. And a step no longer leaves the previous step's popup sitting over the page — every step starts clean unless it is there to talk about what the last one opened.

Who sees what, shown rather than described. Both tours now open the Create User form and walk through the roles. For service businesses: a Technician only ever sees the phone app, and the tour shows exactly that screen. For suppliers: an Employee can use the counter computer or the phone, whichever is in front of them.

Vendor employees can use the computer. Frontline staff at a supplier used to be sent to the phone view whatever they opened. The counter computer carries the same sell, receive and will-call actions, so it is now a choice: the phone is an option for the floor, not a requirement. Service technicians are unchanged and stay phone-only.

5-Star race is now a per-tenant feature. The monthly warranty-review race — managers record each 5-star review, last month's champion wears five gold stars — was built for one customer's ritual and used to be on for everyone with Levels. It is now switched on per tenant from the hub, off by default, and the tenant it was built for keeps it exactly as it was. Reviews already recorded are never touched by the switch.

Smaller things. Theme picker no longer offers a colour you can only earn through a race your tenant does not run. The Stock page's Actions menu and the Partners tabs can be pointed at by the tour.

Correcting a shift used to mean wrestling a date-and-time box that was happy to move your Tuesday to a Thursday. Nobody ever wanted that, so it can't happen any more.

Fixing a shift is about times now, not dates:

Technicians can fix their own start and finish times. Open Time Clock, find the day, tap the pencil. Every change is still stamped with your name, the reason you gave, and what the clock originally said — nothing is quietly rewritten.

Adding hours by hand got the same treatment:

New: pay rates, and what the hours are worth.

Admins can put an hourly rate against each person and mark them as a W-2 employee or a 1099 contractor. The hours list then shows an estimated cost per person and for the whole period, and the XLSX export carries the rate, the basis and the estimate. Rates are private — admins and managers see everyone's, everyone else sees only their own.

To be completely clear about what that is and isn't: this is for organization and tracking, separate from your payroll. IXV Systems does not produce W-2s, 1099s, pay stubs or any official payroll or tax document, and does not calculate withholding. The figures are estimates and your payroll provider stays the system of record. Official payroll services may be something we offer down the line.

This is live now — set a rate on anyone from the Hours tab whenever you're ready.

There is no longer just a light mode and a dark mode. There are themes: three to start, and each person picks their own.

Light — the beige and brown look you already know, with the raised 3D buttons.

Black & White — a true monochrome dark. Near-black surfaces, white text, white hairlines, and a black button with a bright white ring. Nothing tinted, nothing glowing. If you work in a dark room all day, this is the easiest one on the eyes.

Blue & Black — a flat, modern dark. Deep blue-black surfaces with flat blue buttons: no animation, no shine, no gloss. Everything sits still.

How to switch: click your profile picture in the top right, then Theme. The menu opens up to show all three with a preview swatch; tap one and the whole app changes instantly. Your choice is yours alone: it follows your account, not your company, so nobody else's screen changes when you pick one.

While we were in there, we also went hunting for text that had been quietly hard to read: status pills whose writing was the same colour as the pill itself, warning figures that stayed brown no matter which theme you were in, and grey-on-black sub-labels. Those are fixed across the app.
